I’D probably be better off buying shares in Paddy Powers and Ladbrokes rather than just handing money over the counter with no return like I’ve been doing recently.
Our bet last weekend was, we thought, a sure thing. Mayo to beat Sligo Under 21s in the Connacht final and Laois U-21s to beat Dublin in the corresponding Leinster fixture.
Our first call, Mayo winning, came in easily on Saturday but Laois lost to Dublin in a surprising result in Leinster, hence more money down the drain.
Maybe along with giving up sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks, I’ve given up winning any money for Lent and this run might change next weekend. I know, I know – ‘don’t hold our breaths’ you say! Well we’ll see what happens.
