A draw keeps both teams happy

CONSPIRACY theorists would have had a field day if Donegal had beaten Derry and Dublin were relegated despite hammering Westmeath. The share of the spoils ensured both teams in Castlebar were free from the quagmire of relegation but Derry’s win over Donegal deservedly kept Dublin up.

The game in Castlebar could have went either way and we’ll examine it in more detail tomorrow. For now a Bank Holiday Sunday session calls so we’ll just post the score – 1-11 for Mayo to Tyrone’s 0-14.

Tyrone corner-forward Martin Penrose got the Mid West Man of the Match while Aidan O’Shea, who scored 1-1 off Conor Gormley at full-forward was devastating for Mayo and Ronan McGarrity also excelled in the second half, helping himself to three points.

As we said we’ll examine in details tomorrow. At the moment a pint bottle (deserved or otherwise) is calling me so adios for now.
