FBD off

I know I’m late with the news but just in case anyone reads the FBD preview below and thinks the game is going ahead on Sunday – well its not.

The Connacht Council, in their wisdom, have put all of Sunday’s games back to the following Sunday which is a perfectly logical decision. But don’t be sure games will go ahead the following week either.

Guess I’ll have to watch a replay of the Meath game on Sunday afternoon so. I apologise in advance if my mood is dark next week . . .

I would have liked JOM to put out the best 15 players in Mayo in the FBD and in the League – forget this ‘resting’ nonsense. Let them prove that they actually deserve a jersy and give the other lads on the panel the chance to unseat them if they are good enough during training. That way they learn to play together, they learn to win and they learn to fight for the priviledge of representing Mayo.
Come July or August (we dare not mention September) you have a team that will give it a hard go.
Or is that just the daft ravellings of a frustrated and bewildered fan?

I think its far too long a year for the best team to be established so early. I think some lads should be rested, some of the older guys. But on the condition that they have to earn their places back and not walk straight back in. But when you see John O’Mahony picking the same captain and vice captain as last year, you wonder about his willingness to shake things up.
